Alassio is probably the stuff from which the Italian dreams are. Lined in a picturesque bay conveniently and from a miles long wide sandy beach, this known resort offers everything just in the season cold with us what a middle European needs to let dangle his soul.
The beach is almost deserted in this time, the water in October still delightfully warmly, the beach promenade invites for staying. The hotel already offers for the breakfast a magnificent look at the sea and in the landing field a small bar loads to the landing beer - airman's heart what do you want more? Three start places all around the bay offer almost always start possibilities and the constant sea wind often permits Hangsoaring of several hours.
By the start of the Pisciavino at approx. 600-m altitude and 3 km of distance to the beach stretched mountain flanks themselves make the beginner desire for thermial flying, too. And where one earth finds, e.g. 800-m-long and 40-m-wide landing field? - we land on the beach! From April till the beginning of October the flight site because of the bathers on the beach is closed. In the hinterland, in the Ligurish mountains, another flight site is near to Alto which shows a good alternative when the sea wind is to strong with fantastic thermal flights with it´s protected situation.
Because there is no cable railway in the whole area, this of us leads only few years ago explored and since then with growing resonance offered flight area such a marvellous Sleeping Beauty's existence. But Monaco is even 70 km away...
